Have you heard about COVAX?
Part 1. Why WHO, GAVI and Gates Foundation created the COVAX Facility.
COVAX. Who hasn’t heard about COVAX? Probably most Americans. Nearly everyone has not heard about the WHO/GAVI/Gates Foundation creation.
The COVAX Facility was formed to help low income nations (92 identified by WHO) to obtain COVID-19 vaccines and distribute free of cost. With some strings attached of course.
COVAX relies upon donations of cash, lots of cash from several countries to purchase the vaccines and distribute them. The US is on the hook for $2 billion dollars for 2021 and another $2 billion for 2022. The UK, Canada and the European Union have contributed large ransoms as well.
But money does not buy happiness according to COVAX since the supply of vaccines was already committed to the wealthy nations. So COVAX was just receiving crumbs.
COVAX officials blame “rich” countries for obtaining the supply of COVID vaccines. Of course these countries did receive the vast majority of the supply. They purchased or contracted with purchase orders in 2020 to fund the development of Operation Warp Speed and other developments of the vaccine. Pharmaceutical companies honored the delivery and purchase contracts first.
A desperate plea from WHO earlier this summer towards the G20, an economic coalition of the wealthiest 20 countries, brought direct donations from the nations of surplus vaccines.
WHO set a benchmark when COVAX was formed to have 40% of all residents in the designated countries to be vaccinated by the end of 2021. Will miss that target by a wide margin.
Yet, most of the designated countries in Africa have failed to vaccinate a targeted population of 10% by the end of September. It is closer to 3%.
In part 2, I will discuss another creation within the COVAX Facility. I mention above strings were attached. They are strong. A dysfunctional injury compensation program copied from another dysfunctional program in the US.
Keep learning, keep challenging yourself and always, always question authority.
Have a good day.
